20 minute FTP test Tuesday at 6pm. Total workout about an hour including 26 min interval warmup and warmdown. 2 riders confirmed, the more the merrier! This test will give you a good reference power level for future workouts, and your coach will appreciate the data. We can even provide the full data plot for your coach showing heart rate, cadence, power and more during the test!
Thanks to everyone who came to the open house yesterday – we had a blast!
Several folks expressed interest in getting an FTP test done asap. This is a 20 min test preceded by 26 mins of intervals for warmup. Anyone who would like to do one of these this week please email me. We may do one morning session and one evening – probably Tues and/or Wed. So email with your day and time preference and we will get it set up. Be sure to buy a pass as well.
I will email back and also post on the signup page regarding test scheduling.
It’s finally here!!!

We Look Fwd to seeing you on Saturday!!!!
The TFL team
We will have some hot-off-the-presses 2010 model Kestrel bikes in the Lab in time for next Saturday’s open house. We will have their top-of-the-line road racing machine, the RT900, a super stiff 15lb breakaway monster ridden by Rock Racing to many victories, in size 55, and an Airfoil SL with the new black graphics, Ritchey seatpost, and updated aerobars in size 54. We should also have some Talon models (already sold but there are more where those came from!) for your viewing pleasure as well. If you haven’t had an opportunity to check out why Kestrel is THE hottest growing brand in race-ready bicycles, here’s your chance!
As always we are about FIT FIRST!! We will refuse to sell you a bike that will not fit you properly. Unless you really bribe us and sign a release saying that you won’t bug us later when you hate the bike. We think this will be a refreshing change from the typical “we have it on the floor so by-golly it fits you” approach. This is why we’ve partnered with Bikeworks so that we have access to bikes that fit into the “high stack and short reach” category (Cannondale, Trek, along with Kestrel Talons) to go along with the other Kestrels and Cervelos (long and low) – we think we can find the perfect fit for just about anyone. Bike purchases REQUIRE and include a FREE pre-buy fit/evaluation session.
I am getting a lot of questions on when the TriFitLab will officially open its doors. Answer – TBD – but as early as this coming weekend. We are doing some last minute refurb to the interior cosmetics of the space, and then we are good to go.
The Computrainers are in place and we have been testing them – prepare for some major butt-kicking this winter (if you don’t wimp out and cheat on your power setting!). We ascribe to the “Fast Before Far” method of training. In other words lift the left, fill the right. In other words, train your high intensity systems first, and this will improve your speeds at lower intensities and longer distances. Who wants to do long slow distance training in the middle of winter?? Intense training is more efficient use of your time and will pay big dividends in the Spring and Summer.
We have changed the pass structure, based on feedback – we will now offer 10 and 20-ride passes (129.95 and 229.95) to be used anytime. Walk-in fees remain the same. These will be “virtual punchcards” – sign up or show up for a session and we will add a “punch” to your pass.
